Ontario’s iGaming industry is booming. So much so that revenue for the sector came to an astounding CA$162 million as of June. This marks the first full quarter following the market launch in April this year. 

The figure was released by iGaming Ontario, a division of the local regulator, The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). 

The new iGaming regulatory division was founded during the initial preparatory phase of the new sector. 

Famous Names Now Live

The total take for the abovementioned period came to CA$4.07 billion. By the end of June 2022, 18 operators had gone live in Ontario, with 31 websites live and operational. 

Major operators now live in Ontario include North Star, Entain, and fantasy sports betting leaders DraftKings. 

The Best in the World 

492,000 Canadian online gambling player accounts were created throughout the reported period, all remaining active. An average spend of CA$113 per player per month was reported. 

According to Dave Forestell, who chairs iGaming Ontario’s board, the initial results are exceptionally positive. He said this resonated with the organization’s goal of becoming the top gaming jurisdiction in the world. He noted that Ontario is an attractive market boasting a large and solid player base.
